The Sipayik Story
Noela Altvater, a tribal member of the Passamaquoddy Tribe, created a story map that highlights the issues of water quality faced by people on the Passamaquoddy Reservation at Pleasant Point, Maine, for decades. In 2022, she was the recipient of a Brookie Award by the Natural Resource Council of Maine for her work as an Indigenous clean water advocate and community leader. Brookie Awards honor Maine’s young environmental leaders.
