Maine: Maine Housing’s Arsenic Abatement Program provides grants to eligible single-family homeowners or landlords with private well water that shows evidence of high levels of arsenic contamination. Abatement is important to provide clean drinking water to households, especially those with children under 7 years of age or pregnant women who live or spend a considerable amount of time in the house.
Maine: Healthy Acadia works in Washington and Hancock county in Maine on a broad range of community health initiatives. Maine and New Hampshire: The Single Family Housing Repair Loans & Grants program, also known as the Section 504 Home Repair program, provides loans to very low income homeowners to repair, or grants to elderly very low income homeowners to improve, or modernize their homes. This includes private water well and septic system repair and replacement.
